My travel by auto each day
Is a story in its own way
To get one itself takes quite some time
During which you get to make a rhyme
And then you have to put up with the fare
Which on most days is just unfair
And then to speak up, if you dare
His cool reply is that he doesn't care!
For whatever reason you still are abused
Which may leave you mighty confused??!!
Once on a lucky day, a gentleman I met
Who refused a rupee extra to his pocket
This incident made me very glad
And reminded me of my grand dad
So, you do find people who work with care
It is just that they are very rare

I had written the above over 4 years back, summarizing my experience of auto rides in Bangalore. Here in Chennai, none of the autos have operating meters. Most autos here do not even have meters. Out of habit, I once insisted that the auto driver must switch his meter on. He remarked "It's been ages since anyone made such a demand to me"!
